Remedial massage is all I do.
That's why it works.

I'm Lauren Schoenauer, an ATMS Fellow with more than twenty years of clinical experience. I built one of Balmain's most-loved remedial massage practices in Sydney, and I now treat clients from my private studio in Tewantin, servicing Noosa and the Sunshine Coast.

Meet the therapist

From Balmain to Tewantin

For over fifteen years I ran one of Balmain's busiest remedial massage practices. I never advertised — my clients did it for me. Sydney locals booked weeks ahead; some still time their Noosa holidays around an appointment.

My approach is simple: listen first, assess properly, and treat the cause rather than chase the symptom. I keep my books deliberately small, so you see the same therapist every single visit. That's me.

Treatments

Remedial massage in Tewantin & Noosa

Every treatment starts with assessment: how you move, where the restriction is, and how your body is compensating.

Remedial Massage

Targeted, clinical treatment of muscle and connective tissue to resolve pain, restore movement and correct dysfunction — a plan built from assessment of your body, not a routine. Most acute issues respond within 3–4 sessions.

Deep Tissue Massage

Slow, deliberate work into the deeper muscle layers for chronic tension that lighter styles can't shift. Firm doesn't have to mean painful — I work with your breath and feedback to stay effective.

Pregnancy Massage

Safe, comfortable, properly-positioned treatment for every trimester — easing lower and mid back load, hip pain and disrupted sleep. Gentle where you need it, precise where it counts.

Trigger Point Therapy

For hyper-irritable spots: headaches born in the neck, pain from a contracted knot. I locate and release the trigger points that refer pain.

Sports Massage

Pre-event preparation, post-event recovery, and maintenance through training blocks — for runners, surfers, cyclists, golfers and anyone who asks a lot of their body.

PNF Stretching

Assisted stretch-and-resist techniques used by sports professionals to build flexibility and protect against injury — often woven into a remedial or sports treatment where your body needs it.

What clients say

Trusted from Balmain to Noosa

5.0 Rated 5 out of 5 on Google Rating on Google
"Without a doubt one of the best massages I've ever had. I originally booked in for an hour and found Lauren to be so good that I extended it for longer. She found knots and tension points on my body I didn't know I had. She's a lovely and welcoming person and her massage room is quiet and tranquil which added to the overall experience. I'll be booking in each time I'm visiting Tewantin."

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between remedial and relaxation massage?
Relaxation massage is a general, feel-good treatment. Remedial massage starts with assessment: I look at how you move, find the tissues causing the problem, and treat them with specific techniques. You leave with a plan, not just an hour of calm — although you get that too.
Can I claim remedial massage on my health fund?
Often, yes — but it depends on your fund and your level of extras cover. I'm an accredited ATMS remedial massage therapist and I provide an itemised receipt you can claim with your fund. Because funds differ in what they cover and how much they pay back, please check with your own fund before booking.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed — you can book directly with me. If you're seeing a physio, chiro or GP, I'm happy to work alongside them and share treatment notes with your consent.
How many sessions will I need?
Most acute issues respond within 3–4 sessions. Chronic or long-standing problems can take longer. I'll give you an honest estimate at your first appointment — and if I don't think massage is the right treatment for you, I'll say so and point you to someone who can help.
Is pregnancy massage safe?
Yes — with proper positioning and technique, massage is safe and genuinely helpful in every trimester. I've treated expectant mothers for over two decades.
What does "accredited" actually mean, and why does it matter?
In Australia, "massage therapist" and "remedial massage therapist" aren't protected titles — legally, anyone can use them without any training at all. Accreditation is what closes that gap. I hold a nationally recognised Diploma of Remedial Massage, and I'm an Accredited Member and Fellow of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. That accreditation has to be renewed every year, and renewal depends on keeping my training, first aid and professional indemnity insurance current. It's also what makes your treatment claimable with health funds — funds only pay rebates against an accredited provider. It's worth asking any therapist you see, not just me.
Where are you located and is there parking?
My studio is at 12 Cambridge Court, Tewantin QLD 4565, a few minutes from Noosaville and about ten minutes from Noosa Heads. There's easy off-street parking at the door.

Qualifications & accreditation

Qualified, accredited and kept current

In Australia, "remedial massage therapist" isn't a protected title — anyone can use it. Accreditation is what tells you the training is real, the insurance is in place, and your health fund will recognise the treatment. Mine is renewed every year.

Australian Traditional-Medicine Society Accredited Practitioner badge, valid 2026 to 2027
Diploma of Remedial Massage Nature Care College · 2007 · HLT50302

The nationally recognised qualification required to practise remedial massage.

Accredited Member & Fellow Australian Traditional Medicine Society · current for 2026–27

Renewed yearly against ongoing training, first aid and professional indemnity insurance. It's also what makes your treatment claimable with health funds.

The Key Approach, Module 2 Edgecliff Physiotherapy Sports & Spinal Centre · 2013

Nineteen hours of physiotherapy-led training in spino-pelvic movement control and pain — the assessment thinking behind how I treat back and hip pain.

Certificates are on display in the studio, and you're welcome to ask to see them.
